Born in Post, Texas, on September 18, 1929, to Knox and Mary Parr, Ann passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 18, 2024. Ann met Carroll Fancher at Southwestern University, and they were married in 1950. She was a devoted partner with him in his ministry in the United Methodist Church. Together, they served in senior minister, district superintendent, and conference leadership positions in the Texas Conference until they retired in 1994 and returned to Bryan for many happy years at Carter Lake and Arbor Oaks.
Ann was not just a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, but also a dear friend and mentor to many. Her generous spirit extended to all, regardless of their background, faith, or outlook. She was an active participant in various volunteer roles, both secular and non-secular, where she not only led but also learned from others.
Ann was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Charles and Jim. She is survived by her son, Bill, and his wife, Carol, and her daughter, Luann, and her husband, Larry. Her family, including her grandchildren - Robert, Tracy, Daniel, Julie, and Jeff - and five great grandchildren - William, Grayson, Nathan, Ava, and Carter - were a constant source of pride and joy for her, especially in her later years.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel (1515 South College Avenue in Bryan, Texas) at 2:00 on Sunday, August 11, 2024. A celebration of her life will follow at 4:00 at the Arbor Oaks community located at 2505 E. Villa Maria Road, also in Bryan.
For those inclined to remember her, Ann’s wishes were to consider donations to Twin City Mission, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (“UMCOR”), or the Arbor Oaks Garden Fund. She would be most honored if each of us sought to set aside our differences and come together in faith and community to love and support one another. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Let us remember her by striving for unity and reconciliation with our fellow men and women.
