Angel “Blackie” Lopez, 75, passed away Saturday January 30, 2016 at his home in Bryan surrounded by family. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 1, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday February 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan with Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.
Angel was born October 2, 1940 in Franklin, Texas to Jose and Ignacia (Izaguirre) Lopez. Angel loved going to his church and church events. He enjoyed helping his friends, dancing, watching college and NFL Football, as well as baseball. He liked to cook and spend time with his family. He was a very humorous man. He was a very caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and was a very loyal friend. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Angel leaves behind to cherish his memories two sons, Willie Sanchez (Joyce) of Chicago, Illinois and Ronald Lopez (Linda) of Bryan; five daughters, Irma Canney (Greg) of Magnolia, Texas, Veronica Lopez of Pflugerville, Texas, Cynthia Tomas (Rigoberto), Angela Lopez, and Marisol Lopez all of Bryan; three brothers, Raymond Lopez, Felix Lopez, and Doroteo Lopez, all of Bryan; six sisters, Elena Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Irene Arrevalo, and Mary Quintero all of Bryan, and Hilda De Leon and Marguarita Lopez both of Dallas, Texas; twenty-eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
