Albert Ray Zweifel, 78, passed away August 9, 2023 in Bryan, Texas. He was surrounded by loved ones as he made the transition from our world into the best dancehall in the sky, Heaven. Albert, also known as Sonny, Al, and Papa Al, was born on August 16, 1944 in Tabor, Texas on the land that he was forever proud of. Papa Al was a proud graduate of SFA High School in 1962. He was also a part of the Corp of Cadets with the Fighting Texas A&M Aggies. At SFA High school, he met the love of his life, Sandra Rockey. They married December7,1963.
On February 21, 1967, Albert Zweifel proudly was raised in the Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge No. 300. Albert Zweifel was a busy businessman throughout Bryan College Station proudly owning a multitude of construction, cabinets, and hardware companies. When Papa Al wasn’t being a hardworking businessman, he was also an avid hunter. One of his favorite trips was to Africa as he hunted large game. He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in Bryan, Texas and loved spending time worshipping the Lord with those around him. On a Saturday night, it was not rare to see him at the Sons of Hermann dance hall, dancing to all the classic country western songs. He never met a stranger and often could spend more time talking than doing whatever activity he was supposed to do. Albert Zweifel is preceded in death and now celebrating in Heaven with, son, Shannon Zweifel; father, Alfred Zweifel; mother, Gladys Zweifel; father-in-law, Errol Rockey; mother-in-law, Gertrude Rockey.
Albert is survived by his wife, Sandra Zweifel; sister, Barbara Siegert, nephew Gerald Siegert, great nephew Brendan Siegert; daughter, Shelli Peevey and husband Chris; son, Shawn Zweifel and wife Belinda; daughter, Sunni Kalosis and husband JJ, grandchildren, Rae Williams and Jeff Lane, Shawna Zweifel, Morgan and Brad Cullen, Shannon and Ben Davis, Shane and Abby Peevey, Kylie Zweifel, Chase Kalosis, Bryce Kalosis; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Logan, Luke, Dean, Piper, and Olivia; best friend and “brother”, Evan Benbow and wife Bonnie; and many more extended family members and friends that have become family.
“God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, ‘Come to Me’. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”
The Zweifel family would like to thank the nurses at St. Joseph Hospital and the caregivers at Hospice of Brazos Valley for their dedicated support as they helped Papa Al through the final stages of life.
