Albert Leon Turek, 92, of Bryan entered into rest on Friday, March 30, 2012 at his home. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1st, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m.; Monday, April 2nd, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with Rev. Msgr. John McCaffrey as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Albert was born November 13, 1919 in Bryan, Texas the son of Antone and Annie Turek. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Albert served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Operations, 5th Army, 63nd Signal Battalion; and was a member of the Battalion Association. Albert worked for the City National Bank of Bryan and First City National Bank of Bryan. He served as a Director on the Board, Secretary to the Board, Senior Vice President, Controller and Cashier. He retired after 35 years with the bank. He also served as President of the Texas Data Center and President of Bank Administration Institute, Texas Brazos Valley Chapter. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus and the American Legion, Earl Graham Post 159.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Mildred (Crenshaw) Turek; parents, Antone and Annie Turek; sister, Lillian Putz and a brother Robert Turek.
Survivors include his children; David and his wife Linda Turek, Shelley (Turek) Kuder and her husband Bill, Morris “Randy” and his wife Beverly Turek, all of Bryan, Daniel and his wife Hilda of Austin; grandchildren, Marshall, Marcus, Nicole Turek and Clayton Kuder, all of Bryan, Ryan Turek of Austin, Douglas Turek of The Woodlands and numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery Fund or the Charity of your choice.
