Willie Elizabeth Cohen

Willie was one of five children born to JQ and Jimmie Simmons. She was born in Baxley, Georgia, raised in Douglas, Georgia then moved to St. Simons Island, with her sister, Irene, when she was in her 20’s. It was here that she met her future husband, Henry R. Cohen, III. Willie enjoyed gardening and reading, but her family was most important to her! She attended Christian Renewal Church and, in 2019, left St. Simons to live with her daughter in Adairsville because of her declining health.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Cohen; three brothers, Nathan, James and Theodore Simmons and her sister, Irene Simmons Lubberstedt.

She is survived by a daughter, Hope C. Parker (Ricky) of Resaca; a son, Henry Russell Cohen IV (Susan) of Charleston, SC. and five grandchildren, Taylor Choate Patterson (Nathan), Alex Cohen Andrews (Dillon), Russ Cohen, Blade Parker and Alexis Parker.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, GA.

The graveside service will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens, 5775 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522.
