A great and wonderful wife passed away, unexpectedly, on August 24, 2023. She was born in Pennsylvania on 28 November 1935. She moved to Independence, Missouri in 1955 and met Robert Carlisle in October, 1958, and they were married July 11, 1959. After Army duty they moved back to Missouri in 1960 where Bob finished college. She became an Air Force officer's wife in March, 1963. Daughter, Lisa, was born in Arizona. Son, Tod, was born in Mississippi. In 1966, they relocated to Texas for a year and then on to Alaska in November, 1967 for three years. Then to North Carolina for ten years. In March, 1980 they moved to The Golden Isles when Bob joined the 224th Air National Guard unit. They lived here while Bob completed his Air Force career in 1986 and have lived here ever since. Here, she worked at Tait Floral, The Flower Basket, The Silk Greenhouse and Miller's Florist.
In 1981, Bob joined the Brunswick Elks Lodge. She became active in the Ladies Auxiliary and served three times as the President and held various positions in the organization throughout her membership. Also, she was an active supporter of The Georgia Elks Aidmore Children's Center. She was an active Beta Sigma Phi Sorority member and served as Chapter President and other officer positions. There were other community service projects she headed and was active in. She was a sweetheart, always giving.
She was 87 years old. She and Bob were married sixty-four years. She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Carlisle, two brothers, Gerald and Myron Winship and wives, of Independence, Missouri, two children, Lisa Sims and Tod Carlisle, locally. Two grandsons, Christopher and Cameron Barrett and wives and three great grandsons.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 1 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, Brunswick, with a Memorial Service at 2 PM. A reception will follow.
