Mr. Miller was born August 17, 1937, attended the Brunswick Elementary School, and graduated in 1956 from Glynn Academy. After marrying his teen-age sweetheart, Patsy Withrow, he joined the US Navy. He began a 20 year career in boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois. After a two-week leave for Christmas at home, he checked in at Sherman Field, NAS Pensacola. He attended A-School in Norman, OK and B- School at Millington, TN. He spent one year in Keflavik, Iceland then to the USS Enterprise (VF 102) for two Mediterranean cruises including the 1963 Cuban Crisis. He was injured aboard ship and flown to Frankfort Naval Hospital in Frankfort, Germany then to Charleston Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC. He was then sent to NAS to recuperate. His next assignment was to Oceana, VA to board the USS Roosevelt and back to sea. He later returned to NAS Glynco until the based closed then to Whiting Field in Milton, TN until he retired in 1976.
After retiring, Mr. Miller was employed at T & J Service Center in the office until he felt led of the Lord to attend Seminary at Jacksonville Theological Seminary under Dr. Harold Vick, the superintendent of the 6th District of the Foursquare Churches. He has now joined his family members and his mentor, Dr. Vick, in Heaven. He leaves behind all of the physical differences and Dementia. He is free – missed so much by those left behind.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Miller Cunningham; his father, Cecil Brockington Miller; mother, Leslee Pearl Miller; father-in-law, John William Withrow; mother-in-law, Ruth Boyd Withrow; sister, Helen Miller Walker (husband Don); three brothers, Henry Franklin Miller, Sr. (wife Eleanor), Michael Leslee Miller and Paul Wesley Miller (wife Nancy); brother-in-law, Johnny Ray Withrow; nephews, Henry Franklin Miller, Jr., Billy Hutchinson and Gary Hutchinson, and great-granddaughter, Penelope Cody Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Withrow Miller; son, Thomas Daryl Miller (wife Christina Roby); daughter, Cynthia Miller Morris (husband Donald Morris, Jr.); brother in law, Terry E. Withrow; nephews, Todd Withrow, Jesse Withrow and Adam Withrow; niece, Elizabeth H. Crooms (husband Rev. Larry Crooms); grandson, Thomas T. Miller (wife Danielle); granddaughter, Elaina Miller; grandson, Samuel Miller; grandson, Adam Brown; granddaughter, Neena G. Morris (husband Chris Senior) and her children, Gunnar Senior, Dallas Senior and Tyson Senior; grandson, Donald Morris III (wife Marinna Morris) and his children, Mia Quinn Morris, Kacie Barber and Mason Mort; grandson John Ayshum Cunningham (wife Erin) and his children Jalia Cunningham and Braydon Cunningham.
A service to celebrate Mr. Miller’s life will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Crooms officiating.
