Suzanne Walker was born on March 26, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. She and her family moved to Pharr, TX in the early 1950's and Suzanne graduated from Pharr San Juan Alamo High School in 1955. Suzanne married Jerry Clyde Walker in August 1957 and was married 47 years supporting his education and career living in Texas, North and South Carolina, Nebraska, Brazil, South America, and Indiana.
She was an avid horse trainer/rider and loved having many animals around her. Suzanne was a determined survivor, successfully defeating non-hodgkin's lymphoma 4 times. She endured a successful stem cell replacement (at an older age than doctors typically approve), which was supposed to give her an additional five years, but she survived an amazing, additional 11 years. Suzanne always beat the odds. She also came back strong after being attacked and maimed by a stallion. Her life was miraculously saved by her favorite, beloved horse jumping a fence to chase the stallion off. You can read her book – Dee & Me, a true love story to see the impact horses had on her life. Beyond surviving, Suzanne ran horse camps for children that nurtured the love and care of horses; and with the help of dear friends ran the Walker Cancer Survivors Foundation in Hancock County Indiana. Her generous spirit was admired and loved by all who met her. She was a terrific example of living life fully, gratefully, and with passion no matter what is thrown at you.
Suzanne is survived by her grateful children Randy Lee Walker (Karen), Kandy Laine Duke (Ken), Michael Scott Walker (Roxanne) and Robbin Lea Medina. She has seven grandchildren; Grant Taylor Walker, Kelsie Dawn Newman, Darbie Ann Randall, Nicholas David Walker, Joseph Ryan Walker, Francesca Elena Austin, Alexandra Taylor Medina and one great grandchild; Elliott Von Walker. She is also survived by her beloved nephew, James Raymond Stoudt (Carol), and their children William Allen Stoudt, Tyler James Stoudt, and Caleb Michael Stoudt.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her brother David Allen Stoudt and her parents Walter Allen Stoudt, and Patricia Elaine Quandt Stoudt.
