Born July 4, 1948 in Baxley, Georgia to the late John Crawford Reynolds and Verdie Perry Reynolds. Sharon was a graduate of the Glynn Academy Class of 1966. She lived most of her life in Brunswick and on St. Simons Island. Sharon managed the accounting for her husband's business for 50 years. Previously, she worked for Doctors Melton and Lacroy. Before she became ill, she was an avid reader. One of her favorite nightly activities was to compete with her son in law playing Jeopardy. Other pastimes were fishing and boating with her family. She also spent a lot of time canoeing and camping on the Satilla River with friends and family. Sharon was known for her wit and sense of humor and was loved deeply by her friends and family. She was like a second mother to many of her daughter's friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her two grandchildren. Her husband, Ron, was the best, most loving, and attentive caretaker for 9 years. It is a testament to his love for her that she lived comfortably for as long as she did. A special thank you to Dr. Herman Levy. He went above and beyond in caring for her. She loved him so much and considered him her angel on Earth. We would also like to give special thanks to Scarboro Oxygen Services. They were kind, considerate always, and attentive to her needs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Reynolds and Glenn Reynolds, and three sisters, Hazel Smith, Helen Hackel, and Ann King.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ron Strayhorn, her daughter, Stacy Gowen and husband Michael Gowen, all of St. Simons Island, two grandchildren, Randall and Lucy Gowen, four sisters, Lavonne Bradham, Jeannie Carver, Marcia Clayton and Elaine Frohn, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of The Golden Isles would be appreciated. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Private Graveside services will be conducted at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island. A celebration of life will be held at Village Creek Landing, Sunday, October 1, from 4-6 pm. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.edomillerandsons.com
