He was preceded in death by his grandmother Millie “Mama” Strickland, his parents Inez (Strickland) and Giles Thompson Sr., daughter Nicole Michelle Walker Seldon-Ash, and his brother Giles Thompson, Jr.
SGM Walker retired from the United States Army on 1 April 1990 after serving honorably for 25 years. Awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal (3 campaigns), Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Senior Parachutist, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medals, and numerous other decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons.
He is survived by his wife Johnavia L. Walker (Yorktown, VA), daughter Johnetta Felecia Walker (Yorktown, VA); Sons Fletcher Eugene Walker III (Atlanta, GA) and Johnathan Fletcher Walker (Yorktown, VA). Grandchildren: Marcus (Della) Seldon (Ft. Hood, TX), Walker Seldon (West Point, NY), Nicolas (Shynise) Seldon (Ft. Gordon, GA), Johnaye Walker (Yorktown, VA). Sister Carolyn McGuigan (Aurora, CO). A son-in-law William D. Ash. A special cousin Alberta Guess (Boston, MA). And a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 30th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Victor Morrell officiating. Pallbearers and flower bearers will be family members and friends. Interment with full military honors will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Brunswick.
