Sally grew up in a bygone era on St Simons Island. She was born at Fort Frederica, before it was a National Park, and moved when she was a child to Lawrence Plantation, on the North end of St Simons Island. She spent her youth roaming the woods of Cannon’s Point, hunting, and fishing in the creeks. She began school at the newly opened, St. Simons Elementary, the first elementary school on the Island. She went on to graduate from Glynn Academy in 1957. Following High School she graduated from Georgia State College for Women with an education degree. Sally was a teacher in Atlanta before moving back to St. Simons to teach at St Simons Elementary. She was a lifelong member of Christ Church Frederica, singing in the choir beginning at the age of six. She was also a member of the Civinettes Club of St. Simons and loved her Christmas Eve duties of ensuring stockings were handed to every child who wanted one. She was past secretary and treasurer of The American Legion Auxiliary. She organized and started the Islands only Jr. American Legion Post. She was also a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy. Sally loved spending time with her family, boating, fishing, and in her younger years hunting. Sally will always be remembered as a master cake baker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabelle Taylor Pearson, Banford Taylor Coleman and a brother Reginald (Bubba) Taylor, Jr. and a grandson Micheal (Buddy) Jones.
