Rex was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Warren Earl and Dorothy Jean Jackson, both of whom preceeded him in death. He was a graduate of Maple Heights High School, class of 1969 and the University of Missouri where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Rex served honorably in the US Air Force for four years. He worked in Computer and Software Development prior to retirement. Rex and his family moved to St. Simons Island in 2001.
Rex loved traveling and visited 48 states and 8 countries. He enjoyed his daily swims and swam every day for 45 years. He loved walking on the beach and did so as often as possible. Some of the best family memories were days spent boating on the lake and snow skiing in Colorado and Mammoth Mountain in California. Rex loved talking politics and voiced his opinion, no matter the cost! Above all, Rex cherished time spent with his children and granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jackson of St. Simons Island; son, Taylor Jackson of Atlanta; two daughters, Victoria Jackson of Seattle, Washington and Juliette Jackson of St. Simons Island; a granddaughter, Piper Jackson of St. Simons; a sister, Linda Hanzak (Frank) of Solon, Ohio; a brother, Greg Jackson (Jill) of Berea, Ohio and 5 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on St. Simons Island, on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at Coastal Kitchen.
