Roy Thomas Helms Sr.

Roy Thomas Helms Sr., age 86, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. He was born in Thomaston, Georgia the son of the late Albert M. Helms, Sr. and the late Martha Irma Helms. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Smith Helms; two brothers, Henry P. Helms and Albert M. Helms, Jr.

Roy was a 28 year Army Veteran and served in the Green Beret. He also was a Vietnam Veteran with 5 Tours of Duty. He retired with Honors as a Command Sergeant Major. After his retirement with the United States Army, he went to work for 16 years in Maintenance with the Glynn Place Mall before retiring for the second time. He was a hardworking and a patriotic man. He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife and spending time with his family and friends. He was also kind hearted and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish the many memories of Roy are his children, Roy T. Helms, Jr. (Phylis), Steven W. Helms (Lindy), and Karen P. Davis (John); three grandchildren, Austin T. Davis (Jordan), Leigh Helms (Tanner), and Macy Helms; also three great grandchildren, Henry Davis, Everly Posey, and Addisyn Davis; one sister, Virginia Helms Eubanks. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation for Roy will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation in Chapel Park Cemetery at 2:30 PM with military honors.
