Lt. Col. Robert Bruce McDowell, U.S. Army, (Ret.), 90, of Jekyll Island died Tuesday April 12, 2011 at the Brunswick Hospital of Southeast Georgia Health System. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington Virginia.
Lt. Col. McDowell was a native of Hyndman Pennsylvania, born December 20, 1920 to the late Lindley and Lottie Kipp McDowell. He had been a resident of Jekyll Island for over thirty years. Lt. Col. McDowell was a member of the American Legion and a retired veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of the Jekyll Island Unitarian Church.
Survivors include his grandson Bob Nawrocki and wife Monica and their children of Jekyll Island.. GA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and Arlington National Cemetery.
