He is survived by Christine Grimstad Franklin, his wife of 51 years; his stepdaughter, Margaret Kelly (Jonathan) of Weston, MA and his stepson, Carter Holliday (Alexandra Moore) of Stonington, CT; granddaughters Avery, Beatrix and Isabel Kelly; and his sisters Pamela Tice of New York City and Deborah O’Neil, of Smyrna, GA.
Bob received his B.A. from Boston University and completed his military service as second lieutenant in the Regular Army before embarking on an investment banking career. Upon moving south, Bob founded Ariel Savannah Angel Partners, based in Savannah.
Bob was proud of his public service record which included gubernatorial appointments as trustee of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and chair of the Massachusetts Public Education Nominating Council. In the Golden Isles, he served a five year term on the 2016 SPLOST Oversight Committee. He was an instrument rated private pilot, a lifelong yachtsman, veteran poker player and Life Member of The Union League Club, New York. At Marsh’s Edge, their residence for the past 10 years, Bob instituted a Men’s Bible Study, a poker game that continues to this day, and the beginnings of a gin rummy tournament.
