Captain Robert Ford USMC

Robert Ford, 89, of Brunswick, Georgia departed this life Monday, May 29, 2023. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, June 2, 2023 in Palmetto Cemetery with Father Alan Akridge of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiating.

Born July 4, 1933 in Washington, DC to the late Martin Anthony and Mary Agnes G. Ford, he was a USMC Veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Ford retired as Business Manager at Georgia Regional Hospital. He was a former resident of Savannah, and had been a resident of Glynn County since 2019. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where he was very active. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Evelyn Ford, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ford.

Survivors include three sons, Bryon Ford and wife Angela of St. Simons Island, Tom Ford and wife Vickie of Spartanburg, and Bob Ford and wife Kay of Pooler, five grandchildren, Angela, Jayson, Poppy, Jamie, and Bobby, several great grandchildren, and a sister, Louise Elliott of Spartanburg.
