Robert Frederick Bovenizer was born September 18, 1942 in Bellaire, Ohio to Robert Vernon Bovenizer and Emma Lee Polloch Bovenizer. He passed away December 19, 2023 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Robert lived his early years in Mt Pleasant, Ohio and his teen years in Cadiz, Ohio where he graduated from Cadiz High School in 1960. He received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Ohio State University in 1967 and an MBA from Ohio University, EMBA program in 1985. He, also, had a Professional Engineer Licensee.
He worked for ATT (Ohio Bell) for many years and was in charge of switching systems in Eastern Ohio. He then transferred to Bellcore Tech (the teaching arm of the Bell System). Initially teaching fellow Bell employees, later teaching companies outside of ATT. He developed and taught courses on (What was then) the new cellular technology to many companies and countries throughout the world. He often taught with an attorney that gave the legal aspects of this new technology. One of his clients, McKinsey, contracted with him directly after he retired.
Bob enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar. He had a Ham Radio License that he started back in high school. Bob also belonged to a Barber Shop quartet in high school and college, but his great love was golf and he loved living on the 6th fairway at Sanctuary Cove.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister Nancy (Chuck) Leeser, Massillon, Ohio
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Phyllis M Miller Bovenizer. His daughters, Karen Bovenizer, Granville, Ohio and Laura Atchison (Mark) Granville, Ohio and his son, Robert N. Bovenizer (Kara) Cumming, Ga. A brother Craig (Carole) Griffin, GA and brother David (Jennifer) Lynchburg, VA. He has six grandsons, Spencer, Quinn, Zane and Beckett Bovenizer, Braden and Riley Atchison. He also had a step-son Albert Leech, Valley Grove, WV. A brother-in-law Louis Miller (Susie) Alexandria, VA and Bernard Miller (Sue) Lexington, KY.
He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A small Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Brunswick followed by a Celebration of Life at the golf clubhouse at Sanctuary Cove.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
