He is survived by wife, Emily Hart Black, and children Taylor Stephenson (Robert), Cory Black, grandchildren Evie and Reece Stephenson and Harrison Black, siblings Donna Goins, Paula Stewart (John), Sam Black (Cindy), Carol Storey and Charles Black (Carole), 3 step-children as well as nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Sam and Evelyn Black.
Bob graduated from Jonesboro High School, attended Georgia Southern University before joining the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Voge, Fast Frigate. He was employed by the Sea Island Company for many years before owning CCLS (Coastal commercial laundry services).
Bob will be remembered for his loving and generous spirit. He was an exceptional athlete, playing college and semi-pro football and baseball. His love of sports and mentoring young people led him to coach in his community and public school system for over 25 years where he left a lasting legacy as Coach Black.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday April 10, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Village Creek Landing on St. Simons Island.
