Mr. Andrews was born in Boston, MA on July 5, 1927, the son of Robert and Isabelle Andrews and made his home in Massachusetts until 1950. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He received a BA degree from Boston College and an MS degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. His career as a behavioral scientist included several organizations and leadership roles. Foremost were the Quartermaster Field Evaluation Agency at Ft. Lee, VA; the Decision Sciences Lab at Hanscom Field, MA; and for the majority of his career the Army Research Institute headquartered in the Washington D.C. area.
A resident of Northeast Florida since 1984, he and his beloved wife, Jean, were longtime members of the St. Augustine Ballroom Dance Association and supporters of the performing arts. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bridge and most of all his family which he deeply loved. He was predeceased by his brother, John.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Monica Ross of Greenville, PA, Deborah Andrews of Ponte Vedra, FL, Karen Daniel of Brunswick, GA and Robin Allender of Roswell, NM; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Claire and a brother, James, also survive.
Visitation for family and close friends will be Sunday at 2:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Burial with military honors will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery 2PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia.
