Richard Eugene Godley, 91, of Brunswick departed this life Monday, December 16, 2024 at his residence. A crypt side funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Monday, December 23, 2024 at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Don Combs officiating.
Born March 11, 1933 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Richard T. and Julia J. Godley, he was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1952. Mr. Godley was a Corporal in the US Army 82nd Airborne earning his Paratrooper Wings. After he was discharged he worked at Brunswick Pulp and Paper until his retirement. He then worked as an associate at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home for several years. He was lifelong resident of Glynn County and was very active in the Elks Lodge 691 and served as the Exalted Ruler. Mr. Godley was a charter member of Lakeside Community Church where he was also very active and sang in the choir. He enjoyed golfing, travel, and spending time with family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Julee Crews, and a son in law, Gene Barr, and a brother, Clyde Godley.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Godley of Brunswick, three children, Gale Barr of Brunswick, Perry Godley and wife Renee of Marietta, GA, and Maggie Fuller and husband Jeff of Lake City, FL, and son-in-law, Tom Crews of Brunswick, five grandchildren, Bryan Bergman, Cate Godley, Lillie Vinton, Ted Fuller and Tommy Fuller, and five great grandchildren, Dylan Fuller, Nolan Fuller, Jacob Fuller, June Vinton and Elly Vinton. He was "Uncle Gene" to many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
