Ralph Alton Wade, 81, of St. Simons Island, departed this life Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Private Funeral services will be conducted later in the week at St. Ignatius Episcopal Church on St. Simons Island with Mother Ashton Williston and Father Tom Purdy officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Frederica Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Kennedy, Marshall Wiltfang, Mitch Sears, Gene Vickers, Devon Sears, and Bobby Hue Sears.
Born August 30, 1941 in Alma, Georgia to the late Holmes A. and Eva Inez S. Wade, he was a graduate of Bacon County High School Class of 1958 and received his Banking Certificate at the University of Georgia and Oklahoma State. Mr. Wade had been a resident of Glynn County since 1961 and was a banker with First National and Coastal Banks. Mr. Wade worked as a sales representative for J.D. Moore Oil Company and was the owner of Atlantic Ship Bunkering. Mr. Wade was a member of Christ Church Frederica, and was a Mason and a Shriner. He was an avid golfer, fabulous storyteller, and enjoyed fishing and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jeannie S. Wade, a daughter, Jeannie Lynn Kennedy and husband Larry all of St. Simons Island, a grandson, Marshall Wiltfang, two granddaughters, Alexa Dudley and Elizabeth Dudley, two great grandsons, Conner Fleischman and Freddy Peterson, a sister, Mary Nell Thompson and husband Carol of Blackshear, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6pm until 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Ignatius Episcopal Church. www.edomillerandsons.com
