Philip was affectionately known as Phil by his friends and family. Phil was born May 8, 1948 in Michigan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He moved his family to St. Simons Island in 1984 where he became active in the community. He also was the proud owner of Phil Simon Tire for over forty years. Phil was a man of integrity that could close a deal with a handshake. He believed a man’s handshake was his word and bond. Phil always valued the service he provided to his loyal customers who he considered not just customers but good friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his biological father Felix Bianchini who passed away when Phil was a young child; his parents, Arthur and Edna Simon; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Robena Soule; brother-in-law, David Soule. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Carol Simon; sons, Joe Simon (Michele), Marty Simon (Svetlana), and Tony Simon (Jessica); his wonderful grandchildren, Sam Simon, Mary Grace Simon, Chandler Simon, and Thomas Simon; also his two sisters, Susie Berkowitz (Howard) and Sandi Simon; three sister-in-law’s, Sharone Giever (Gary), Sharon Soule, Donna Threet (Danny); his two brother-in-law’s, Rod Soule (Margo) and Dennis Soule (Bambi). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a hardworking man that took great pride in providing for his family. Phil was always ready to reach out a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Phil will always be remembered for his jokes and great sense of humor. He could always brighten everyone’s day with a smile and a funny joke. He always enjoyed meeting with his morning breakfast group before starting a busy day. Phil also enjoyed fishing. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Phil’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Minister Lewis Burton officiating.
