Nancy was born on Saint Simons Island November 2, 1937. She was a graduate of Glynn Academy, class of 1956. She lived in Atlanta for 20 years and worked for G.E. Credit Corp for several years.
She married Arthur Pittman on July 12, 1959. They had just celebrated their 55th anniversary. They lived in Decatur-Tucker area of DeKalb County for 20 years. Nancy was an active Jaycette and worked on many charitable projects. Nancy was a great wife, a good mother to her daughter and a loving grandmother to her three wonderful grandchildren. Since 1984 she and Arthur have lived on the river at the north end of Saint Simons Island. Nancy enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing. She also enjoyed their personal and business related trips where she was able to visit many states and countries.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Arthur Pittman; daughter, Kelda Rebecca Ryan and grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel and Thomas Ryan all of Delray Beach, Florida. Her sister, Lou Nell Brockinton Gibson of Saint Simons Island, brother in laws, Robert J. Pittman of Marietta and Lawrence Nash of Philomath, and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Captain Alfred A. Brockinton and Reba Tomlinson Brockinton of Saint Simons Island and sister in laws, Annette Pittman Nash and Mary Shores Pittman.
A graveside service (dressed casual due to the heat) will be held at Christ Church Cemetery Wednesday, July30th at 10AM with Rev. Marcia Cochran officiating. The family is thankful to Hospice of the Golden Isles and Saint Simons Methodist Church for their loving support. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hospice, Saint Simons Methodist Church, The Humane Society of SE GA or any charity of the donor’s choice.
