Nancy Gail Williams Guffey, 75, of Townsend, Georgia, formerly of Snellville, Georgia, departed this life, Friday, December 9, 2022 at Jesup Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Striklin officiating. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery in Darien with Mark Heurter, Chad Huerter, Damon Hubert, Tony Martin, Steve Morrison and Keith Ottinger serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Cooper and Gary Lawrence.
Born July 10, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Carvis Pittman and Nancy Carolyn Spears Williams, she was a Graduate of Georgia Southern University in 1969 and was an educator in the Gwinnett County School system. She then worked for William Q. Bird and Associates of Atlanta as a paralegal. She was a member of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Gail, along with Beverly Kelso, led the Food Pantry at the church. She had many loves, such as gardening, cooking, and sewing. She also had a soap company called Coastal River Farms. She loved her fur babies Maisie and Winston.
Survivors include her husband, Terry L. Guffey of Townsend, three sons, Michael Walls and wife Julie of Calhoun, GA, Robbie Walls of Lilburn, GA and Chris Walls of Jefferson, GA. Surviving grandchildren are Savannah Hensley, Mason Walls, Sophie Walls, Lilly Walls, and Olivia Walls. Surviving sisters, Martha Williams Cooper and husband Bill of Casselberry, FL, and Joan Williams Ottinger and husband Keith of Loganville, GA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning, December 17, 2022 from 9 am until 10:30 am with the service immediately following at Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
