She was a native of Brantley County, Ga; resident of Yorktown, VA for 48 years and then returned to Georgia for the last 6 years of her life.
Upon graduating from Nahunta High School, she attended South Georgia College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where she received an Associate’s Degree in Home Economics.
After her discharge from the United States Air Force, she continued her passion for Home Economics by becoming a Cafeteria Manager in the York County Virginia School System, where she retired after 25 years of service.
A true “Georgia Peach”, she will be remembered for her love of volunteering and her dedication to the art of cooking, sewing and gardening.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, William “Smitty” L. Smith, Jr., son, Michael W. Smith and siblings, Marie Morgan and Mamie Stone. She is survived by daughters, Catherine (Allan) Rosing and Cindy (Mike) Barbeau, son, Robert (Laura) Smith; 6 grandchildren (Mike, Andy, Scott, Zachary, Holly and Cady) and 11 great grandchildren (Ashleigh, Joshua, Jacob, Halle, Paisley, Brodie, Lilly, Jada, Kyrie, Trent and Sadie).
