Michael Joseph "Mike" Green

Michael J. Green, Lt Col USMC Ret, 65 of Brunswick died February 28, 2010 at home. Mike is survived by his wife of 41 years Kay Parker Green, children Kerry Green Richardson (Patrick) of Savannah, GA, Mace Green (Amy) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Rin and Laine Richardson and Kaylyn and Parker Green, Brother Richard Green (Diane) of Salinas, CA and additional extended family. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents Rita and Mike Green and in-laws Jean and Wright Parker.

He was a graduate of San Jose State University in San Jose, California. He retired as a Lt. Colonel USMC in July of 1993. Mike served a tour of Vietnam in 1968-69. He was employed by Parker Kaufman Insurance Company for the past 38 years. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, were he served on both the parish council and school board.

Mike enjoyed feeding menagerie of animals at his home, Duck, Geese, Raccoons, Squirrels and Fish.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Officiant will be Father Wilfred Logsdon. Pallbearers will be John A. Tuten, Edwin G. Lambright, H. Milton Woodside, Michael Fairman, William Disque and Bill Brunson. Interment will be at the Brunswick Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the residence, 117 Palmera Lane, Brunswick, GA, on Tuesday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to USMC Toys for Tots Foundation, 1626 Frederica Rd, St. Simons Island, GA 31522 or the Charity of the Donor’s choice.
