Mary was born on April 7, 1947 in Millen, Georgia, to parents Robert Wiley Brooks and Irene Hunter Brooks. When Mary was a child, the family moved to Glynn County where she made the Golden Isles her home. Mary was married to Joe Anderson from November, 1963 to January of 1980. From this marriage the couple had a daughter, Patricia. Mary was re-married in 1982, to Joseph William Durant who sadly passed away in February of 2015.
Mary was a member of the Golden Isles Church of God. Her family meant the world to her! Her life revolved around her daughter and grandchildren. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed baking, doing word puzzles and coloring on her tablet.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William Leslie and Janie Hunter; mother, Irene Hall; father, Thomas Waters; two uncles, Leslie Hunter, Jr. and William “Pete” Hunter (Virginia), and an aunt, Versie Hunter Bell (Leroy).
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Anderson; a granddaughter, Brittany Leighann Anderson and a grandson, Blake Allen Anderson, all of Brunswick. Her father and mother, Bob Hall and Ella Waters; two brothers, James Williamson (Margaret) and Don Waters (Debbie), and special friends, Lori Huffaker (Trevor), Beverly Rainey, Carol Spaulding and Doris Wadd. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Tatum officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Brandyn Dobbins, Johnny Herrin, Blake Quick, Austin Strickland and James Williamson, III. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
