Mrs. Alford was born April 13, 1910 in Ashford, Alabama the daughter of the late Ben Howard and the late Beatrice Howard. She has resided in McIntosh County most of her adult life. She was married to the late Wade Audean Alford. Mrs. Alford was a homemaker and took pride in tending to the needs of her family. She was also the longest living member of the Darien Church of God.
Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Beatrice Howard; her husband, Wade Audean Alford; two daughters, Irene Workman and Arlie Conrad; two sons, J. W. Alford and Jimmy Alford; two grandchildren, Bill Alford and Jeffrey Workman. She is survived by her daughter, Daisy Ethel Peek (Dan) of Milledgeville, GA; Seventeen grandchildren, Lou, Michael, Pat, Scott, Tom, Michelle, Kristen, Reba, Rusty, Karen, Polly, Maria, Richard, Lori, Amelia, Wade, and Brad. Several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Alford loved to spend time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family cordially invites you to help them celebrate the life of Mary Emilia Alford at a visitation held during the hour of 10:00 – 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Darien Church of God. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Darien Church of God with Reverend Tommy Whaley officiating the service. The interment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, Florida on Thursday.
