He was a native of Alexandria, Louisiana, but had resided most of his life in Brunswick, Georgia. He was the son of JoAnn Smith and the late Marvin C. Smith Sr. He was married for twenty-seven years to his loving wife, Joy Smith. They were blessed to have three sons and two grandsons. Mr. Smith was employed with Liberty Roll Off as an equipment operator.
A Graveside Service to honor his life will be held in Chapel Park Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2016 with the Reverend Joe Williamson officiating the service. The family will receive friends after the service.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Marvin C. Smith Sr. He is survived by his caring wife, Joy Smith of Brunswick, GA; three sons, Carter Smith (Megan), Lain Smith, and Cliff Smith all of Brunswick, GA; two grandsons, Harrison “Nash” Sexton and Parker Austin Smith both of Brunswick, GA; his mother, JoAnn Smith of Brunswick, GA; a sister, Vicky Copeland (Vernon) of Brunswick, GA; one brother, Keith Cottingham of Brunswick, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Sylvia Carter of Brunswick, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Smith was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a skilled craftsman and mechanic. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He also treasured the time he spent with his two grandsons. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Many fond memories will be cherished by his family for years to come.
