Mrs. Pope was born in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of the late Walter Emory and Daisy Farrell Taylor. The family returned when she was one year old to Alma, Georgia where Martha spent her childhood years. She had been a resident of Brunswick for the past sixty years. Mrs. Pope was also the business office manager for Southeast Georgia Health Systems and retired after twenty-six years of employment. She was a member of The Chapel in Brunswick.
Martha was preceded in death by, her parents Walter Emory Taylor and Daisy Farrell Griner Taylor; a brother, Walter Ronald Taylor; her first husband of 36 years, Lincoln Lindberg Tanner; her second husband of 13 years, Richard Franklin Pope; a son-in-law, Ronald Allen Bluestein.
She is survived by her three loving daughters, Gay Tanner Bluestein of Brunswick, Ga, Linda Tanner Marra (Steve) of Buford, GA, and Ginger Tanner Loverde (Patrick) of Roswell, GA; she was blessed with seven grandchildren, Eric Bluestein (Lauren) of Claxton, GA, Brian Bluestein (Amanda) of Chapin, SC, Ashley Bluestein of Dahlonega, GA, Stephanie Marra and Michaella Marra of Buford, GA, Alex Loverde and Mitch Loverde of Roswell, GA; three great grandchildren, Maggy Bluestein of Claxton, GA, Tanner Bluestein and Elena Cloette Bluestein of Chapin, SC. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Taylor Wilcox of Hazlehurst, GA and Juanita Tanner Griffin of Ocilla, GA. Several nieces, nephews and her best friend, Gary Lee, Sr. of Brunswick, GA also survive.
Mrs. Pope loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting cook books marking all her favorite recipes to prepare for her family at a later time. She also was gifted in quilting and took great pride in each stitch. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Jay Hanson will officiate the service. The burial will follow the service in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
Martha will be best remembered for her love of Christ and family. Her special gifts of unconditional love and hospitality were bestowed upon all family and friends who knew and loved her. God has her in his arms and we have her in our hearts forever.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Marsha Certain, Dr. Kevin Fussell, Dr. Stephen Barrett, Mona Smith, R.N., and the staff of Southeast Georgia Health Systems CCU, SICU for their kindness and gentle care of our mother while in their care.
