Margaret Annette Kennedy, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 29, 2014. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at noon on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Glyndale Baptist Church with a Visitation preceding the service at 11 AM.
Mrs. Kennedy was born April 26, 1928 in Brunswick, Georgia where she resided all of her life. She spent many years employed in the produce department of Piggly Wiggly and then with Harvey’s Grocery Store on Altama Avenue, where she enjoyed interacting with her customers, who became her friends. She enjoyed growing the most beautiful roses, and designed the best tasting cakes. She took pride in her 1972 Chevrolet Nova. She loved her family, especially being a “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In 1946 she married Jack Kennedy, who passed away in 1978. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James and Maude Stephens; her sister, Grace Loudermilk; two brothers, Richard and Fred Stephens.
She is survived by her children, Marcus Kennedy (Susan) of Franklin, North Carolina; Beverly Guynn (Bill) of Brunswick; Chris Kennedy (Gale) of Brunswick; Jack Kennedy (Debbie) of Brunswick and Bruce Kennedy (Suzann) of Brunswick; her grandchildren, Mark Kennedy, Jr. (Heather) of St. Simons Island; April Copeland (David) of Dover Bluff, Georgia; Matt Corson (Bethany) of Middleburg, Florida; Kristy Anderson (Justin) of Brunswick; Christopher Kennedy (Kelly) of Brunswick; Helen Kennedy of St. Simons Island; Dewayne Kennedy (Wendee) of Brunswick; Katie Hayslip (Matthew) of Brunswick; Jennifer Hendley (Bryan) of Gainesville, Georgia; Michael Kennedy of Brunswick; Aliceson Anderson of Darien, Georgia; Jennifer Jackson of Charleston, South Carolina; her great grandchildren, Riley and Aubrey Kennedy, Allen, Jennifer and Zachary Copeland, Paul Corson, Joshua and Evan Anderson, Emily Kennedy, Jack Darrin, Isabelle and Gracie Kennedy, Aubrey Hayslip, Hope and Harper Hendley, Fisher Anderson and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles and Dr. Shaner for their compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia 31525.
