Mabry E. Dixon, 71, of Brunswick, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, November 15, 2012 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Hugh Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with David Lambert, David Poppell, John Harrison, Luke Harrison, Josh Harrison, and Ernie Fouche, III (Trey) serving as pallbearers. There will be a special reading by Carl Conaway, Jr. (brother-in-law). Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Palmer, Dr Albert Henderson, and nurses of the SICU, 5 Medical, and Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Born December 30, 1940 in Sebring, Florida to the late Ben T. and Zelma B. Dixon, he was a 1960 Graduate of Pasco County High School in Dade City, Florida. Mr. Dixon retired as a pastor after 45 years of service to his Lord. He started several churches including Northside Baptist (Jesup), Emmanuel Baptist (Waycross), and Gospel Light Baptist (Brunswick). He was also employed by the Georgia Co-Operative Services for the Blind utilizing his services at FLETC as a snack bar vendor. He was a member of Peoples Liberty Baptist Church in Hortense and had been a resident of Glynn County for 36 years. Mr. Dixon was an avid Florida Gators fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Polk.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Debbie Dixon, two sons, Matthew Dixon, and David Dixon (Denise) all of Brunswick, six grandchildren, Clayton E. Dixon, Colton M. Dixon, Kevin M. Dixon, Ashton R. Dixon, Logan R. Dixon, and Lawson R. Dixon, and one brother, Gary Dixon, of SC.
