Mrs. Johnson was a native of Montgomery County, Georgia born on June 21, 1921 and had been a resident of Brunswick since 1942. She was retired from Hercules, Inc. after 35 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the Taylor’s United Methodist Church and she served her Lord in many areas of the Church. Some include the Choir of the Church, United Methodist Women, Administration Board, Sunday School Teacher and Prayer Group Leader. She enjoyed working at the Manna House ministry for several years. Her compassion for others touched many people as she led them to Christ.
She had worked as a volunteer in the S.I.C.U. of the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lamar Johnson, a son, David Lamar Johnson and her parents, Benjamin O. and Esther Galbreath Chambless
Survivors are her son, Timothy Lewis Johnson (Diane) Brunswick, three grandchildren, Carla Shae Whitmore (Sean), Eric Johnson and Christy Johnson, three great grandchildren, Gage Whitmore, Landon Whitmore and Christopher Johnson, one brother James Robert “Bob” Chambless of Waverly, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Monday 10/30/12 from the Taylor’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Whit Kirkland and Rev. James Emery officiating. Interment will follow in the Churchyard Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Ernie Ward, Johnie Ward, Perry Lane, Kevin Knight, John Dadmun and Jeff Lynn
Honorary pallbearers will be: Administrative Board and Adult Sunday School Class and Wednesday Prayer Group of Taylor’s United Methodist Church.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the Staff of Fairhaven Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice.
The family request those wishing may make contributions to the Taylor’s United Methodist Church, 766 Old Jesup Rd., Brunswick, Ga.,31525 and will receive friends in the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home from 7 to 9 PM Sunday night, 10/29/12.
