Jean was born in Jeff Davis County October 20, 1937 to the late Roscoe and Martha Hutcherson Tanner. She was one of three children. Her older brother who preceded her in death, Thomas Carter and survived by a younger brother B.H. Tanner.
She was preceded in death by her Husband of 38 years Vernon Tankersley who passed in 1993.
She was the mother of four children, and is preceded in Death by two of them, Mark Tankersley (Debbie) and Debbie Hein (Rob).
She was also preceded in death by her second husband Ed Carroll. A Daughter-in-Law Lori Juraschek (Bill) whom were always there to help, share time, dinners in and out, being companions, help with Doctor Appointments, travel to Gospel Sings, Love on her, and generally doing Life together.
Survived by two Children, David Tankersley (Kathy) and Penny Williams (Hal).
Nine Grandchildren – Jessica Abell (Peter), Brandee Dupuis (Nicole), Josh Tankersley (Jordin), Alan Tankersley (Suzzane), Jason Tankersley (Cara), Ashley Pittman (Scott), Masi Williams, Cody Hein, Cadi Williams. Twelve Great Grandchildren – Amos Abell, Molly Abell, Jack Abell, Rylin Tankersley, Rowan Tankersley, Reagan Tankersley, Monroe Tankersley, Jesse Tankersley, Noah Tankersley, Rebekah Tankersley, Abigail Pittman, Isabella Pittman. Several Cousins, several Nieces and Nephews, and a great number of Friends. All left to cherish her Memory.
She leaves a Special Neighbor, Ms Lilly Smith, who enjoyed getting together and walking and talking about pretty much everything, also who came to check on her, almost every day, as her illness progressed.
One of things that gave her great joy was spending time with Family, I think mostly the Grandkids and Great Grandkids. That is why she so enjoyed Family Gatherings, so she could witness the family dynamics of the various groups and the Family Group as a whole. Often, she was the bunt of Pranks, but also the instigator of some as well. She will certainly be missed and remembered at Family functions moving forward.
Jean was a proud member of College Place Methodist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday School Class and many of the Activities, especially those involving Food so she could swap recipes, and in general sharing Life with fellow Church Member Friends. She was a loyal member of the Prime Timers Group, because it contained two things she loved, Food and Fellowship with a Christian Community.
She enjoyed Church Trips, Senior Bus Trips, and doing Road Trips with her with 2 special friends Ms Bonnie Fales & Ms Marlene Sinclair. She enjoyed Gospel sings, and the Friends they met at the Sing events.
The Family would like to thank the wonderful people at Hospice of the Golden Isles for their great compassionate care as well as some Friendships that were forged thru our time there.
