Linda Whelan Cooper, on August 4, 2023, went to be with the Lord, her parents and her love Henry Cooper. Linda was born March 7, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky. She and Henry moved to Dalton, Georgia, then Byron, Georgia before spending their retirement in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Linda, as anyone that has ever met her knew, loved learning and education. Her quest for knowledge knew no limits including geographical as Linda loved to travel and learn about other countries and cultures. Even during her struggles with Alzheimer’s disease, she still wanted to study and learn.
Linda earned her bachelor’s degree at Cumberland College in Williamsburg Kentucky. She earned her master’s degree from Western Kentucky University. She went on to obtain her Doctorate in 1987 in Adult & Technological Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Linda taught at Dalton College for ten years before becoming Professor Emeritus of Business at Middle Georgia State College and University. Even after retiring she continued to teach online classes until 2016.
Linda loved to travel, and more than anything, spending time with her husband Henry and their many friends. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church. She lived a life of devout faith.
Linda was predeceased by her parents James and Marion Whelan and her husband Henry Cooper. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Helton (Cris Helton), who cared for her for the last two and a half years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s disease. She is also survived by her loving sister Shirley Evans (Bruce Evans), her brothers Larry Whelan (Marion Whelan), Ronnie Whelan (Jeanne Whelan), and Mickey Whelan (Karen Whelan). She also leaves three grandchildren Lance Ridley (Tela Ridley), Austin Headrick, Avery Bankston (Noah Bankston) and one great grandchild.
Services will be on Thursday August 10, at 2:00 o’clock p.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church St. Simons Island Georgia. Arrangement by Edo Miller Funeral Home Brunswick, Georgia.
