Lila Smith

A lifelong resident of Brunswick, GA, Lila was the oldest of Bill and Margaret Lowe Anderson’s five children. She worked in catering/food service for many years, and later retired from the State of Georgia, working in Food Service. She later was a carrier on St. Simons Island for years delivering the Florida Times Union. It was a joy for her to keep her customers happy.

Lila was predeceased by her parents, as well as her husband, Lewis Smith, and two sons, Phil Smith and Pete Smith. Lila was an early member of Northside Baptist Church. She was baptized in the first baptismal service when the church was built in 1979. She loved the Atlanta Braves, always catching a game on TV as often as possible. She was a loving Christian woman who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a son, Bill Neal, of Thomson, GA, as well as her siblings, Elizabeth Padgett and Amos Anderson (Lea), of Brunswick, J.W. Anderson (Velma) of DeRidder, LA, and Ellen Meisenheimer (Bob), of Jacksonville, FL. Survivors also include two stepdaughters, Cathy Smith Meredith (Dennis) of Springfield, MO, and Patty Smith Woodby of Bell, FL, as well as a host of other extended family and friends.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Palmetto Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Anderson, Trevor Bryant, Danny Lowe, Matt Thompson and Jeff Shave.
