Laurie B. Bennett Wiggins

Mrs. Wiggins was born December 4, 1923 in Screven, Georgia to Wes and Lucille Scott Bennett, Sr. She had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 65 years. She was owner of Laurie’s Beauty Shop for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Pine Haven Baptist Church and the Son Shine Sunday School Class of the Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clarke Wiggins, Sr. and a daughter, Betty Jo Shelley.

Survivors are her son, Clarke Wiggins, Jr. (Kathy) of Brunswick, 4 grandchildren, Benjy Wiggins and Kacey Wiggins both of Brunswick, Jennifer Bernal (Nelson) of Jacksonville, and Bryan Shelley (Wendy) of Orange park, FL., 4 great grandchildren, Cole Wiggins, Charis Wiggins, Carsyn Wiggins all of Brunswick and Harper Shelley of Orange Park, FL. and 2 step-great grandchildren, Brecker Acosta and Miles Acosta both of Hillsborough, N.C., two sisters, Hazel Wray of Brunswick, Molly Shuman of Waycross, Ga., two brothers, Wes Bennett, Jr. and Jerry Bennett both of Screven, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 O’clock Tuesday 8/17/01 in the Pine Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Chancey officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery in Brunswick.

Active pallbearers will be: Benjy Wiggins, Bryan Shelley, Billy Wray, Steven Franklin, Lowell Shuman and Jeff

Emory. Honorary pallbearers will be: Son Shine Sunday School class of the Pine Haven Baptist Church, Doris Sumner, Dr. James W.Greene, Dr. Lana Skelton and Dr. Scott Clay.

The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Monday 8/16/ 01.
