Kenneth (Ken) Arnold Wiggers of Brunswick, Georgia peacefully completed his journey on August 28, 2022 in his home shared with his wife Margaret. Ken’s long struggle with advanced dementia has ended and we know that he rests in the presence of God.
Ken was born June 6, 1942 in Halstead, Kansas to Arnold and Viola Wiggers. He enjoyed growing up on the farm with his younger brother Wilbur and younger sisters Louise and Jane. He often told the story of going through all 8 grades of school with just one other student in his class. Ken became a Christian at the age of 12 and his faith remained a key focal point of his life even in the late stages of his illness. Ken went on to earn his GED and was an avid reader with an exceptional vocabulary. On October 17, 1965, Ken was joined in marriage with Margaret Loewen in Glenn, California, his faithful companion to the end. They relocated to Greeley, Colorado and their family was joined by a daughter Sophia and son Sterling. Ken had a great variety of jobs over the years and owned several businesses as well including a lawncare business, a financial planning business and a drapery cleaning service. During this time, he remained avidly involved in church leadership and theology study, serving as an Elder at both Greeley Mennonite Church and later at Cornerstone Church of Greeley, Colorado. Ken also enjoyed music, particularly Christian music and was involved as a choir director and later traveled with his close friends, the LoveLites on their concert tours. Ken enjoyed a close relationship with his father- and mother-in-law Jake and Agnes Loewen. Ken retired in 2005 and enjoyed his retirement with visits with friends – most notably the Vintage Group Bible studies. After Margaret retired, they made the decision to move to Brunswick, Georgia in September 2021 to be closer to their daughter Sophia. Ken enjoyed his new home and experiencing the history of the east coast and being closer to his grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughter Sophia (Hank) Blair of Brunswick, Georgia, his son Sterling of Hawaii, his granddaughter Kaliandra (Jeremiah) Johnson of St. Mary’s Georgia and his grandson Jakob Koehn of Brunswick, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Wilbur (Donna) Wiggers of Grifton, North Carolina, sister Louise Ratzlaff of Canton, Kansas and sister Jane (Roger) Unruh of Honeygrove, Texas. He is also survived by his wife Margaret’s siblings and their spouses, with whom he enjoyed a special relationship.
Ken was predeceased by his father and mother, Arnold and Viola Wiggers, his father- and mother-in-law Jake and Agnes Loewen, his brother-in-law Duane Ratzlaff and son-in-law Michael Montoya.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
