Funeral service will held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Brunswick. A reception immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Jo was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. She loved to write gospel music, play her guitar and entertain family and friends.
Jo was born in Screven, Georgia, and had resided in Glynn County since 1951. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Staff Sergeant, Marvin N. Highsmith of Thalman, who was awarded the Air Force’s Distinguished Flying Cross posthumously in 1956. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Walter G. Daughtry, in 1990.
Survivors include her children, Diane H. Ansley (Henry) of St Simons; Daniel B. Highsmith of Harrisonburg, VA; Marvin Neal Highsmith of Waynesville; Christopher M. Daughtry (Tamara) of Waverly; Kathleen Daughtry McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL; and Mark G. Daughtry (Jessica) of Jesup, GA.
Survivors also include grandchildren Jessica Highsmith of Waynesville, Ga; Dr. David Ansley of Winston Salem, NC; Andrew Morrell (Kate) and Alexander Morrell both of Jacksonville, FL; Pearl Daughtry of Waverly; and Riley Kate Daughtry of Jesup; and 3 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Marilyn Odom (Bobby) of Brunswick; Judy Denman (Brad) of Thomasville, GA; and Peggy Edwards (Ron) of Gainesville, FL. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Manning of Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
