Joseph Lee Grimes

Joseph Lee Grimes, 88, of Waynesville, departed this life Friday, January 12, 2018 at his residence. Born March 6, 1929 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Joe and Nona M. Grimes, he attended Glynn Academy and was a lifelong resident of Glynn County. Mr. Grimes was a US Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborn. After serving his country Mr. Grimes retired from Hercules after 35 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed reading, gardening, and horses, and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Peggy J. Grimes of Waynesville, three children, Bruce Grimes and wife Joette of Brunswick, Jimmy Grimes of Goldsboro, NC, and Jody Grimes and wife Julie of Brunswick, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister Rose Underwood of Brunswick.

The family will receive friends 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., in Brunswick, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the chapel where Reverend Joe Carr is to officiate.
