Joseph Julian Gray, Jr., 101, a former resident of St. Simons Island, departed this life Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Sears Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Christ Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Clendinen officiating.
Born December 1, 1914 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Joseph J Gray, Sr., and Bessie M. Gray, he was the owner and operator of Grays Refrigeration. He was a lifelong resident of Glynn County and member of First Baptist Church St. Simons Island. Mr. Gray was an avid golfer, fisherman and photographer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two wives, Mary M. Gray and Ethel Gray.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph J. Gray, III and wife Judith of Brunswick, John R. Gray and wife Martha of Braselton, GA, and Dr. Mary Gray of Brunswick, GA, five grandchildren, Dr. Gary Gray and wife Doreen, Mary G.
