It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jon Perkins, a beloved Clemson fan, carpenter, and addiction counselor. Jon departed this world on Tuesday, June 27,2023 leaving behind a void that cannot be filled. His strong spirit, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to helping others will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Born on June 7, 1977, Jon grew up in Surfside Beach, SC, surrounded by the allure of surfing, skateboarding and college football. From an early age, he developed a deep affinity for the sport and, more specifically, for the Clemson Tigers. It was evident that Jon's heart belonged to the orange and purple, and he carried this allegiance with him throughout his life. Jon's unwavering “All-In” support for the Tigers taught us the importance of loyalty, dedication, and perseverance in the face of adversity.
Beyond his love for sports, Jon found his calling as a carpenter. His skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook. Whether it was constructing a beautiful piece of furniture or renovating a home, Jon's work spoke volumes about his dedication and talent. He possessed an innate ability to transform raw materials into works of art, leaving a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to witness his creations.
However, it was Jon's career as an addiction counselor that truly exemplified his compassionate and selfless nature. With unwavering empathy and understanding, he worked tirelessly to help individuals battling addiction find hope, healing, and a path towards recovery. Jon's guidance and non-judgmental approach offered solace to those struggling, providing them with the support they desperately needed during their most challenging moments. He leaves behind a legacy of transformed lives and a testament to the power of empathy and compassion.
Outside of his professional life, Jon was a loving son, brother, father, and friend. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and genuine care for others created an atmosphere of love and acceptance wherever he went. Jon's ability to connect with people on a deep level was a gift that brought joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to share in his life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness.
Jon Perkins is preceded in death by Linda Leonard Perkins and leaves behind his parents, Rick and Cendy Perkins, his brother and sister-in-law Andy and Jennifer Perkins, his daughter Kylee Perkins, his nieces and nephew Lizzie, Sarah Grace and Jacob, and a multitude of cherished friends and colleagues.
While we mourn the loss of this exceptional individual, let us also celebrate the life he lived and the profound impact he made on the lives of so many. Jon's legacy serves as a reminder to us all that a life lived with passion, dedication, and love has the power to transform the world around us.
A memorial service will be held on July 1st, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, where we will gather to honor and remember the incredible life of Jon Perkins.
