John R. Wasdin, Jr., age 78, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014. John was a graduate of Glynn Academy, class of 1954. After graduation he entered the US Army where he proudly served as a Marksman. After his military service, he ran the Ritz, Bijou and Roxy Movie Theaters before they closed and later went to work for Glynn County Parks and Recreation, where he eventually retired. John’s hobbies included guns and cars, but his passion in life was caring for others. He was a selfless man with a huge heart and was the patriarch of his family, whom knew him as "Uncle Junnie". He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Wasdin, Sr. and Lucille Foster Wasdin; three brothers, W. F. “Dub” Wasdin, Lester Wasdin and Robert M. Wasdin; three sisters, Polly Joyner, Evelyn Cross and Virginia Fisher and a niece and nephew, Jane Fisher Usher and Terry D. Fisher, whom he raised as his own.
He is survived by a great-niece, whom he also raised as his own, Chastity Knowles (Jamie); a great nephew, Dalton Usher, and a great-great niece, Ashley Knowles along with several other nieces and nephews that he loved.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Palmetto Cemetery.
