Retired Major John A. Scott, Jr. 66, of Brunswick, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Hanson, and Rev. Drew Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery with the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include, Drs. Skelton, Levy, and Chitty, Rodney Beeler, Rocky Stanley, Cal Roush, Sheriff Neal Jump, Rickey Evans, Stacey Young, Jason Lynema, employees of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick Police Department, Glynn County Police Department and all other local law enforcement.
Born October 19, 1946 in Roundup Montana to the late John A. Scott, Sr. and Celestine W. Scott, he was retired from The Glynn County Sheriff’s Office after 25 years of service. John was a veteran of The US Navy and served during the Vietnam era. He attended The Chapel in Brunswick, and enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends. John had been a resident of Glynn County since 1980.
John is survived by his bride of 40 years, Karen Scott of Brunswick, a daughter, Vicki Beeler (Rodney) of West Palm Beach, FL, three sons, Johnny Scott (Renee), Hank Scott (Kelli) and Brian Scott (Brandy) all of Brunswick, two brothers, Bill Scott (Cathy) and Terry Scott (Carol), two sisters, Lou Stanley (Rocky) and Sue Estepp (Charles), all of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. John also has twelve grandchildren who will miss him greatly: Benjamin Beeler, Madison Scott, McKenzie Scott, Jase Scott, Katelyn Houston, Cidney Houston, Tyler Scott, Emma Houston, Grace Scott, Alexis Scott, Brian Scott, Jr., and Logan Scott.
