John, better known as Johnny to all who knew him, was born on November 4, 1946 in Savannah, GA to Henry and Sybil Ream. After high school Johnny served in the U.S. Army. He moved back to St. Simons Island in 1972 where he has resided since and has proudly received mail from friends far and wide addressed simply to: Johnny Ream, Somewhere on the Beach, St. Simons Island, GA. 31522.
He loved fishing and boating, his Scottish Terrier MacKenzie, and entertaining his family and friends. Johnny was always getting his loved ones together around the grill and made people laugh with fishing stories and tales of times spent watching the Georgia Bulldogs.
Johnny is preceded in death by his mother and father Henry Putnam Ream Sr., and Sybil Watson Baker and stepfather Albert B. Baker.
John is survived by his four children, Anthony Atwood Ream, Arthur Putnam Ream, Claire Ream Meyerkord and John MacIntosh Ream. Siblings, Robert Bruce Ream (Ponte Vedra, Fla) Priscilla Ream Parker and Henry Putnam Ream Jr and grandchildren Priscilla Rose Ream, Shayla Belle Ream and John Watson Meyerkord.
A graveside service will be 11:00am Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Atwood Cemetery in Valona, Georgia with Rev. Ted Clarkson officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
