My memory of John as a sweet and kind man. 
I use to babysit for Anne and John kids.

Anne, Steve and I are sending love and prayers to you and your family. John was one of the finest men we have had the pleasure of knowing.  Our time with you and John in Macon will live in our hearts forever.  We are so grateful  for the friendship you and John extended to us.  I remember Johns gentle spirit, laugh and warmth.  You are in our thoughts as you walk into a new way of life.  We love you.  

One of my earliest memories in life was watching my brother John and his best friend John (or as I knew him "Muscles") interact and knowing that this friendship (along with Frank and others) was incredibly special.  He always was kind and generous to a fault, and was someone that I treasured as an extended family member, even though my immediate family of nine was huge.  He was funny, gregarious and looked  out for me, John's little brother.  He welcomed me as they watched ballgames, ate pretzels, and opened wide mouth Rheingold's.  My father, John J. McCarthy was as tough a judge on character as any person alive, and he loved John for his huge heart.  God bless Muscles and his entire family and I know that there is a very special place in Heaven for such a beautiful soul.

      John was one of the most wonderful people that I ever met.    John and his buddy Joe Healey were  my guiding light.  They motivated me to attend college. Their example, honesty and character were superlative .  John rest in peace.    .....  Ann, Matt  and siblings : Marie and families my prayers are yours.   
                    Heaven is blessed with a very special angel  .  John rest in peace.....
  

John and I spent several years together at Vanderbilt. He was a good friend but most of all he was a good person.  Please accept my sympathy.

Hello, I did not know Mr. McCauley very well. I only worked with him for a few years professionally here at VUMC. He was always so nice, helpful, and welcoming of questions which was much appreciated. I wanted you to know the wonderful impression left with me and I was saddened to read of his death.  My condolences to you and your family.

  I remember when John visited Dave and me at our home in Beckley, WV, back in 1980. I think he was working for Humana then and was visiting a local hospital.  What a kind and gracious man! I regret that distance prevented us from getting to know him better.
  You and your family remain in my prayers, Annie. And I'm sure John is now watching over all of you from above.

Anne, Therese and I send our prayers and fond memories of the times spent with John. So many soccer games watching Timmy and Ryan play in the parochial league, travel squads and at Father Ryan High School. What great memories! John always loved to joke around with me to stay calm and carry on. He was right! Always had a mischievous smile on his face when he said it.  All of my adult children reminisced about the time John went with us to see the US National Team play  a few years back at the Titans football stadium - we were there last night again to see the  USA vs Mexico game and remembered what a great time all of us had together with John. It just seems like yesterday that I ran into John at Pancake Pantry and we caught up. How time flies and how important it is to create great memories.

Thank you for making our lives  that much richer.  Thank you to both of you for being so hospitable and gracious in all things. 

May the Christ, who we believe in with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength welcome John to everlasting life. Amen, my brother, rest in peace.

I will always have fond memories of John.  I feel honored to have known him- from days at college to our brief visits on my trips through Nashville.  He was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.  I'm so happy I had the opportunity to see you both last spring.

I saw Mary Beth Sunday at Jack Hanley's wake.  She told me the sad news of John's passing.  Although we haven't seen each other for many years, I often tell the story of when the boys played T-ball.  John drove carpool one day.  Breck got lost.  John helped me find Breck  blocks away, at the corner of Shelbyville Road and Browns Lane!! 
John was a hero.
