December 14. 2018. They moved to Brunswick in 1956 to start their TOM’S FOODS distributorship called HOLLINGTON TOM’S SALES. Johnny graduated from Glynn Academy in 1963 and then continued on to the Georgia Institute of Technology where he graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. After officers’ candidate school, he served in the US Army, Chemical Corp. and was a Vietnam War Veteran. In 1969 they returned to Brunswick to be partners in the family business. Johnny expanded the route business to include full-line vending, and they changed the name to HOLLINGTON VENDING, INC.
During his college years, Johnny married his high school sweetheart, Faye Dykes. They were married for 52 years. Johnny and Faye joined First Baptist Church of Brunswick in 1969. He enjoyed teaching a men’s Bible Study Fellowship Class, and was honored to serve as a deacon, a trustee, and the treasurer of First Baptist.
Johnny liked everything about cars and trucks. While in the Army, he and a friend installed a new engine in his VW Bus. He enjoyed keeping old vehicles operating like new. His first car was a 1950 Chevrolet Coup. He enjoyed attending car races and car shows. His gift to Faye on their 50th wedding anniversary was the restored 1962 Oldsmobile he owned when they were married.
Johnny worked hard, but being present for all his sons’ activities was just as important.
Family vacations were usually snow skiing trips with other family members and friends.
One of Johnny’s favorite trips was to places in Europe where his paternal grandfather
served in WWI and his father in WWII.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, their three sons:
Justin (Melinda Walker), Jason (Margaret Wright), and Joshua. They have five grandchildren: Kelsey, Jenna, Jeremy, Makenzie and John Riley.
