John Lafatte Dekle

John L. Dekle, 77, of St. Simons Island, departed this life on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens with Rev. Felix Haynes officiating. Bill Bowen, Hazen Kent, Bruce Latvala, Jerry Latvala, Taylor Adams, Chuck Baumgardner, Dr. Edmond Jones, and Morris Kent will serve as pallbearers.

Born August 9, 1939, in Statesboro, GA, to the late Inman and Marguerite Dekle, he was a graduate of Statesboro High School and Georgia Southern University. Mr. Dekle was retired from Rich Products.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved wife, Gay. Survivors include his son, Frank, and his wife, Angie, and grandson, Tate, of St. Simons Island, a sister, Margret Ann Johnston of Statesboro, and several other nieces, cousins and many dear friends.

Memorials can be made to The First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island, 729 Ocean Blvd., St. Simons Island, GA, 31522, for upkeep on the church's Mission House.
