Joe was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a longtime resident till moving to Darien, Georgia. He was a Golden Glove Boxer while in the military. He was a commercial fisherman, by trade, and loved to be on the water catching shrimp and fish. After retiring from that, he had a small business repairing small engines, minor woodworking and lawn care. He never liked to sit idle and he loved deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sibling. (Frank, Ira, Martha and Maude.) and his first wife, Rose.
Survivors include his sons Joseph Dave Newmans, Jr. Rickey Dee Rogers, and Rufus Allen Rogers. One daughter, Wanda Sue Brandon. He had a close relationship with his former spouse, Patricia Ann Powell. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe’s wishes was to be cremated with a service held at a later date.
