Janice was born in Eufaula, AL to parents Johnny Howard Butts and Lois Coleman Butts and was raised in Columbus, GA. She met and married the love of her life, Daryl William Patterson in 1957. Soon after, Daryl became an ordained minister with the Church of God of Prophecy. Together, the couple served many churches in the state of Georgia including Poulan, Tifton, Lindale, Columbus, Hortense, Manor, Baxley, Dahlonega, Augusta and Brunswick, where they served for 9 years.
Janice was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing, baking and shopping. She loved people and enjoyed visiting others. Close to her heart were the Connor’s of Sea Island, whom she worked with for several years.
Her husband and parent’s preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Elainia Riggins (Donnie) of Brunswick; a son, Timmy Patterson (Darla) of Seale, AL; four grandchildren, Kendra Rowe (Derek) of Townsend, GA, Shannon Riggins of Brunswick, GA, Tyler Patterson of Murfreesboro, TN and Jessica Meatte (Josh) of Murfreesboro; six great grandchildren, Austin Rowe, Anna Rowe, Elijah Patterson, Blake McCullough, Ryan Brons and Jesslin Brons; three sisters, Elizabeth Grantham of Seale, AL, Gail Donahue of Columbus, GA and Paulette Thomas (Butch) of Fortson, GA.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 29, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Harold Hand, Rev. Mark Minter, Bishop Billy Adams and Rev. Randall Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Caleb Adams, Adam Cothren, James Holland, Will Horan, Curtis Tompkins and Alvin Young. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at the Cancer Care Center and at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
